I hope I am in the right forum and apologse if this has already been asked but I can't find an answer.

I have a computer with a CD writer and a Playstation 2 that can play DVD's. Is it possible that I can write a movie file (at the moment in MPEG or DivX) onto a CDR disk but in a format that will allow it to play as a DVD on the PS2?

I have already tried it as a VCD and as far as I can see its not compatible with the PS2 in that format.

Hmmm. . . Well, I would have said, "Sure, make a VCD." But you said that won't work in your PS2. I am not really sure. I have made many VCD's, but I don't have a PS2, so don't know if they would work in there. My friend has one, so maybe I can test on in his. Since you said VCD won't work, I am going to move this to DVD for you. You will probably get some great help in there. :)

Unless PS2's can play Mini DVDs, then I think that you are outta luck, because they don't play VCDs, SVCDS, DivX, only DVDs... I have apsolutly no idea if they play mini DVDs though...

You can also convert an MPEG into PS2 movie format, but it is a hassle and you can't fit much on as they use RAW audio... At least that is my understanding.
