Maybe I'm the only one who thinks this is really cool but this DVD player has some great features:

- "supports Super VCD, VCD 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0, MP3, CD, CD-R, and even CD-RW"

- "supports NTSC and PAL"

- Mega Drive ROM CDs (yes, that's what i said) ... 2 gamepads come with it so you can play your ROMs on it. comes with 400 ROMs too!

I had heard Shinco made excellent, cheap DVD players but with Mega Drive ROM support? even if that doesn't interest you, you've got to admit it's pretty cool, don't you??

many Apex and GE DVD players are manufactured by Shinco... so they really arent a no-name company

iv seen that dvd player around under different names. the cheaper teh shop the cheaper the player. all the same features etc.. but a different box and badge on teh player....

They`ve been selling in one way shape or form for donkeys years, used to be a computer with a megadrive about 5 years ago the DVD player/megadrive has been out for a couple of years at least.

Now if you want to talk impressive, we have got a new phone out here by Amstrad that does all the features of a phone and also lets you play Sinclair Spectrum games.

Now that`s class especially if your an old un like me :D

Avoid Shinco products like the plaque!!!!!!!! My first ever DVD player was a Shinco DVD830 imported from Hong Kong.

Problems:

1. mp3 playback was very poor
2. it struggled to play CD-R/W media
3. it couldn’t handle seamless branching DVD movies
4. Lip-Synch problems on countless DVD movies



If any of the above problems ring a bell with Bush/Alba owners, that’s because Shinco manufactures their machines.

sorry to hear about your problems t_tubbies ... always heard good things about Shinco's compatibility and playback. know they're not the quality of like Pioneer, Sony, etc but heard the performance was excellent if not the lifespan.
