IF you are having problems with DVD-R playback studder, it is the media that you are using. I have used the cheap media from cd-recordable.com and that stutters on some DVD players that I have, while it works fine in others.
Apple tend to work well in all players, but apple DVD-R are more expensive. I have recently got this from Meritline.com. They have a brand called DVDPro which doesn't stutter in my players that had stutter issues with the cd-recordable media. They are only 2.45 a piec also.

Here they have 25 for 57.25 which is 2.29 a piece.
