if you copy the video dat files to your pc then rename them to mpg you can then join them with the Tmpg encoder tools. Then encode with Tmpg to mpg2. Demux the mpg2 file with Tmpg for use with Spruceup. Spruceup will enable you to make chapter marks and menus when compiling your final dvdr.;)
