You would have to hook a stand alone DVD player up to your soundcard and record.. It would be much easier to use a DVDRom, it would also give you better sound quality.

celtic_druid, if one does have a DVD-Rom drive hooked up to one's system, how would I record the sound? Thanks.

Two methods.

Use something like total recorder($$$) or dbpower amp (free) with the aux input plugin to record it as you play.
Rip the AC3 with something like Smart Ripper and then decode to wave/mp3 with something like HeadAC3e.

I would go with no. 2. However if you only wanted to record 1 line of dialog no. 1 would be the way to go.

If you didn't have a DVDRom, then I would get one, they don't cost much and are very usefull, esp. if you get a lite-on 163.
