I just bought Sims: Hot Date and used CloneCD (with the amplify Weak Sector option) to make a backup. The funny thing is that I cannot used the CD-RW drive to play the back-up. But it does play in my DVD-ROM drive. From what I heard, it is usually the other way around. I don't have a problem using my DVD-ROM drive to play but I am just curious as to why this is so. Since I am a newbie, I want to understand as much as possible.

DVD-ROM: Pioneer DVD-ROM DVD-117R
CD-RW: Sony CD-RW CRX175E

Thanks,

Not sure if this has the latest protection but some SD2 protection have something called an ATIP check. Only CDr's and CDrw's has ATIP and only CD burners read ATIP which is on the CDr/rw. So if this has an ATIP check then when you play it in your CDRW drive it finds the ATIP and tells the game so it won't work but if you play it in a DVD-ROM or CD-rom it doesn't know how to check for ATIP because it doesn't use ATIP so it just tells the game that ATIP is not available so the game runs.

I am not sure about this because I don't know what version of SD2 The sims hot date has.

Simple, turn on Clone CD's Hide CDR function and see if the game works in your burner.

Hi all,

celtic_druid, I am using CloneCD 3.3.4.1 and I can't find the hide CDR function. Could you please explain where it is. Thanks m8

It is in the Clone CD tray app thing... I assume that you have this option, because you stated that you used AWS.

Yep, the copy works in the CD-RW as well.

Thanks.
