I would like to know if there are any ways to config your client ip address so that it will not be 192.168.0.2

My computer at work place has ip address, ************, which i am pretty sure it is network thru the company.

Can anyone gimme more info on that plz?

First of all, you definitely don't want to give out your employer's IP address here. It is just an invitation to get hacked. :o I'm sure that you don't want to get fired.

I am sorry.. I didn't mean to give the ip for ppl to hack.

anyways. my point is that the ip address at my work place is not 192.168.0.x
Rather, it is 137.82.x.x

Your ip address 192.168.0.x is for your internal network.
You can change this to any internal class ip address range:
10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255
But I don't see why you need to change it.

The one at your work is probably connected to the internet and most likely you cannot modify it.

For the above internal network ips ( other than the 192.168.0.0.....) one, can the rest be set such that all networked computers will have internet sharing as well?

thx

What your asking shouldnt be done by anyone but the Network admin. Your LAN has a DHCP server im sure, and your address is assigned by it, every day. If you attempt to edit the ip addy, you lose connectivity to the LAN.
If the LAN is configured properly, then the Network admin can provide internet access through the routers and servers. Internet connection sharing is useless in this scenario.

What IP are you looking for for your local PC ? :)
As Cap said, the DHCP server (one holding the main connection) is assigning these IPs out to whoever connects to it, only you admin has the power to change the range.

Thx for the reply.

I wanted to know whether the internal ip, client computer's ip (in my case, 192.168.0.2) , can be changed to one of those ip address mentioned above.

I am talking about both files sharing, and internet sharing, can be enable in client computer.

The reason that i wanted to change my client ip is that some game servers won't accept 192.168.x.x , therefore, i wanted to try to see if my comp can log onto those servers with a different ip address.

thx
