Just bought a pre modded ps2 with messiah chip when i try to boot a cdr it comes to a screen with playstation written in the middle and scee written at the bottom and doesn't do anything else

I take it you mean the PSX loading screen.

It sounds like a dry joint.

Try other games CDr and DVDr, if it still does not work give it back to whoever chipped it.

It works with originals but asks you to insert a playstation cd when you try to boot dvdr i've tried other cdr's and they freeze at the loading screen.

If its only a dry joint i should be able to fix it myself is there anywhere i can get an installation diagram for the messiah chip.

I've now just unscrewed it and tried it just incase soemething was shorting out and it has started working. Is it safe without the screws in ???

It sounds like the problem I had m8, mine would only boot ps2 originals - no copies, I took mine to a shop who sorted it - one of the wires on the messiah had come loose.
