Hello folks,
I just got myself the new LiteON 40X burner today. The DirectCD 5.x version I have does not recognize the burner, which came with InCD (which I have not installed and would rather not use - it seems less universal and deson't seem to work with CD-Rs).
I'm told on roxio's site that I need the 5.02d update, but it seems it's nowhere on their site. A search turned up no results.
Anyone know where the update is located? I'd like to use DirectCD with my new LiteON.
TIA....

EZCD 5.02d is now officially gone. The new version is 5.1. You can get the upgrade here: http://softwareupdates.roxio.com/gm/Products/en/ECDC/v51/Platinum/ecdc_v5.1_plt.exe
This should take of your problem

Thanks, I just found it at about the same time I opened the Guide ;)
Should have used the web update feature, duh! Would have taken all the grief out! (Serves me right for distrusting the web update wizards which I've always suspected to be spyware!)

Just noted that the latest download is 5.1.1
Is that what you have ?

Actually, OZ, the 5.02 version is outdated already and won't work with the liteON 40125S.
BTW, I find that the LiteON doesn't like DirectCD very much, at least when used with a CD-R. My first test gave terrible results. Took forever to fill a CD; it was stop and go all the way. I may just scap DirecCD altogether and break down and install InCD instead. We'll see when I've had more time to test it.

Darn, Oz! I just installed InCD after completly removing DirectCD, as it was behaving so bad with CD-Rs on the LiteON 40125S.
I just copied 434MB of stuff (4500 files or so) using InCD with no problems on a 10X CD-Rw in exactly 5 minutes (which is equivalent to 9.88X burning speed). I will stick with it for a while, seems to work better than DirectCD.
Ahwell, no more CD-R DirectCD burning, as InCd dos not allow it. So be it, no big loss. I rarely use packet writing myself anyway, has indeed proven unrelaible in the past.
Next test: making backups using Backup Exec. I'll keep you posted, but not today, I need Zzzs badly...
