Netter Mar 19, 2002, 11:12 PM Can anyone help me burn a CD-RW? I have CD record now and CD Writing Wizard. Both are giving me a problem. I would say that I get about 80% through the programs and the CD Wizard comes up with an error message. Cannot complete the CD Writing Wizard. There was an error in the writing process. The disc you have attempted to write may no longer be usable. These are brand new discs. They are Memorex CD-RWs, 700mb, 80 minutes with 1x to 4x speed. I finally nosed around in the computer long enough to figure out to change the speed of recording to match the CD-RW. That still didn't solve the problem. I've been told to change to CD-Rs and try another brand of discs. The error message occurs when they try to make the disc ready to read, I believe. I went to Microsoft and found a CD-Burner update and downloaded that and installed it, still same problem. Anybody got any solutions? Please!!!!!!
Netter Mar 19, 2002, 11:14 PM Correction--that's HP Record Now.
Hoss Mar 20, 2002, 12:57 AM OH it could be many things, are you writing directly from your CDROM drive? Or from HD?
Audio, Data, Mp3, Game, what??
Is Record Now compatible with XP, have you checked?
Give us some more info and yes you should use CDR's for most things and always for Audio
Secondly form what I know of that app it's very weak, and I'd look into getting another one. There are many free demos out there, so try a few and see what you like. A good simple one would be NTI

Netter Mar 20, 2002, 05:19 AM Well, I'll try to answer correctly. I'm not exactly a computer pro as I've only had mine for about 5 months. I am taking a course over the internet and have been told to download each section as I get to it. The files are zipped when I download them. I have tried to write both zipped and unzipped, doesn't seem to matter. Last night, I tried it again, and this time it kept telling me that the disc (brand new and out of the wrapper) wasn't valid.
As for the compatibility, HP Record Now came pre-loaded in my computer, so I assume it is compatible. I will check into the program link you sent, Hoss. Thanks for the help and I hope I answered all the questions.
Netter Mar 20, 2002, 05:20 AM Oh, I downloaded the files directly to my cd-rom drive and I assume that's is where I'm trying to write the files from. (?)
Hoss Mar 20, 2002, 08:23 PM Allrighty then, let's get back to basics...first read here

Second you still didn't say what the app is that's zipped, or what files it contains when unzipped, and this could be VERY important... but let's try something easy shall we?
You have a Music CD somewhere in the house right? Put it in your CDROM or DVD drive. And select Copy CD then burn it at say 4-8x and see what happens. Only 4x if your using these CDRW's.
If that works then try this....
pick a folder or two, any folder or two that's on your PC. Open Record Now in Data Mode and select these folders, or even that zip file you mentioned, and burn it.
Let us know what happended.
I still recommend that you give NTI or one of the others a try...
Netter Mar 21, 2002, 10:57 PM Hoss,
Okay, I guess I'm going to have to start at the beginning. I tried to copy a music CD but I had no luck trying to figure that one out. I have musicmatch jukebox, win. xp, hp computer. Can you possibly lead me through what I need to do in order to copy a music CD. I can get it to play. I did find the playlist and I tried to save the tracks to the playlist but it said it was not allowed. I hope I have told you enough info. If not, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Thanks again for all your help.:saywhat:
Netter Mar 24, 2002, 06:21 PM :p Okay, thanks to everyone for all the help. I changed to TDK data CD-R and everything seemed to work just fine. Thanks again for all the help and I couldn't believe how easy it was once everything worked just fine. ;)
