I'm trying to make a copy of my max payne.I tried the instructions that celtic druid told me,but I have had no luck. My burner is an LG. I have clonecd and clonyxl. What is aws setting and how do I set it? I think that's the problem. My honest guess is that my burner is why I can't burn it! Please help. Thanks

not sure about your burner m8. but i just copied it sunday.
on read i tick ONLY fast error skip
thats all
nothing ticked on write.

i read at 4x and burned at 8x. this worked for me.

when you used cloneyxl - what it tell you todo. cloneyxl told me the settings i stated above

i have a plextor burner. goto http://www.elby.org/CloneCD/english/index.htm and look to see how compatable your burner is with clonecd.

You still have not said which model you have... Anyway AWS is Amplify Weak Sectors, it is a setting on the write tab that helps some burners produce working SD2 copies, not all burners need it and some won't work even with it.

As said check out the Clone CD hardware requirments page, to see what your burner supports, if it has 1 or 2 dots for "Correct EFM encoding of regular bit patterns" then it can copy Max Payne without AWS.

My plextor doesn't support EMF but I still copied Max Payne no problem.
Don't give up try again but keep your read and write speeds to 4x or slower. I have never used clonexl so can't comment on that progy.
Just copy at 4x to image file using raw and tick fast error skip and
Then burn from image with aws ticked at 4x

I didn't tick AWS but as he didn't have success the first time I thought it might help.

P.S. I am not a Celt although I live in Wales.
Celtic_Druid lives in Australia I wonder if he is a Celt?

If you still need help then.

How to copy Safe Disc 2 protected games

1. Make sure your burner is compatible with CloneCD http://www.elby.org/CloneCD/english/cdr_a.htm
2. Download CloneCD http://www.elby.org/CloneCD/english/
3. Download modified/hacked version of Betablocker http://www.geocities.com/pcp-freak/4cdfreaks/bblocker.html
4. Open up CloneCD and click the first button "Read to image file"
5. Pick the Cdrom the games in and hit "Next"
6. Check "Fast Error Skip" and leave everything else unchecked. Pick 8x read just for safety(don't know if it matters if you go faster but just in case read at 8x)If the cd is scratched a lot or badly then don't check fast error skip. The reading might take anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour just to get to 1% and will continue to go like this until about 4%-5%. If the log is open then you will see a bunch of read errors so don't think its not working because this is part of the protection.
7. Pick where you want the game(image of the game) to go on your computer and hit "OK"
8. Once done reading open up Betablocker
9. Find where you made the image(.img .sub .ccd) of the game at and drag the .img into the window where it says in BetaBlocker.
10. Hit "Search Image"
11. Hit "Patch Image"
12. Open up CloneCD again and click the second button "Write from Imagefile".
13. Click "Browse" and find where the image of the game is.
14. Click "Next"
15. Pick the burner which has the blank CD in it. Click "Next"
16. For Write speed pick what you want.
17. For Write mode pick "RAW DAO"
18. Check "Always close last Session" and leave everything else unchecked.
19. Click "OK"

NOTE-Some SD2 games like C&C Renegade have ATIP check which means the CD burner will check to see if the game is on a CDr/CDrw and if it is it won't run. The games will only be playble in a normal CDrom because CDroms werent made to check for ATIP so it will tell the game that ATIP is not availible because the CDrom can't read it. Or you can just download a no cd/cracked exe/backup cd/fixed exe here www.megagames.com or www.gamecopyworld.com. Or you can also use CloneCDs feature "Hide CDR Media" which is in the CloneCD Tray(bottom right hand corner of the screen). If the CloneCD Tray isn't there then open up the folder where CloneCD was installed and click CloneCD Tray and it will appear there. This option won't be available if your regional settings are set to US so change where you live to Canada.
NOTE-I don't think copying SD2 games like works with all burners. If it doesn't work then download a no cd/cracked exe/backup cd/fixed exe here www.megagames.com or www.gamecopyworld.com
