Ever since I installed the "removable disk" for my digital camera, I can't run my cdrom. The "removable drive" is now my D: drive. My cdrom went from D: to E: The cdrom opens & closes, so there's power, but teh messsage "drive not accessible" keeps coming up. I tried running a rescue disk to get things back to normal, but no luck. Any ideas?? Thanks in advance for your help!!!

When do you get the message "Drive not accessible" ?

If you are getting the message while trying to run programs you had already installed (before the camera), then chances are the programs are now looking at the wrong place for the CDROM.

The message comes up no matter what I disk I put in, already an already installed program or not. It seems like something is not being recognized--now that the cdrom drive is E: Where so I look, what should I be looking for, etc.?? I checked the system hardware--it says it is working properly. What boxes should be checked? Can you just remove the device & reinstall?? Thanks for taking the time with this!!

I have also now tried to remove the cdrom via "systems", but it didn't work. It still comes up "E: \ is not accessible" I also looked up the system config.sys files. There's a line that reads: DEVICE=C:\CDROMDRV\ATAPICD.SYS/D:CD003 Should the /D:CD003 become /E:003 now the my drive is now E: ??

it must have just re assigned drive letters when you installed the new device, its a matter of going to the device manager selecting your devices, then from properties, re assigning the drive letters to their devices to suit and re booting

Thanks for the reply. That was the 1st place I looked -- device manager ---it has E: as the drive letter--the other devices correspond with the correct letters. Any other ideas??? This is pretty frustrating.

Have you re assigned your cdrom to "D" and the card reader to "E". I imagine you have other devices what letter are they assigned

What are your start & end drive letters available to you, ie do you have D to Z available

I removed the card reader & other programs associated with the camera. My cdrom is back to D: (btw, all of the drive letters are available) Drive D: is still not being recognized somewhere. I restarted the computer with a disk in--nothing. I restarted the computer with a boot rescue disk--nothing. Is there some kind of disk utility locking me out somewhere??

After exhausting all of the possibilities (myself included), I figured I might as well try to change the drive itself. I removed the cdrom & a burner from another computer I had & traded parts. My cdrom didn't work in the other computer either, but the other hardware worked fine in my computer. No problems with the digital camera, etc. Now I'll just wait until I run into a good deal on a new cdrom & replace it.

hi all''
i dont know if this will help at all, but i had the same problem,
and what i found that worked was, removing my scuzzi card, installing my digi camera, virtual drive, first, and then the software,
and after that, put my scuzzi card back in again, it worked like a dream.

hope this is of help to someone.
see ya.
