Hi,

Can Anyone help me in installing Adaptec ASPI on a Machine that has no adaptec hardware or software?

At present I have Nero burning ROM 5.5.7.8 installed on my XP Professional. Last week I got a Firmware update for my Philips CDD 4801 CD-R/CD-RW drive from Compaq as my PC is Compaq brand. To install that firmware I was suppose to install adpatec's ASPI. So I did even after ignoring the warning!! saying the ASPI is not for Windows ME/2000/XP. Thats what most people are doing as I read from some sites. I was able to update the firmware with that. But Now I'm getting the following error.

OxEB - ASPI is properlly installed, but
it is unable to initialize.
It is uncertain what caused the failure (0x%02X)

when I run AspiChk.

My machine has no SCSI controller. Its completely IDE driven with

1 Samsung DVD SD-612
1 Philips CDD-4801 Firmware V2.5(Latest from Philips)

Can anyone help me in resolving this or to rollback to no ASPI state, as my need to update the firmware is done. Or is this ASPI is going to help me in any way to improve the CD-R/CD-RW performance.

Thanks in Advance
Rajenk

Try this, they work great and a checker for ASPI's (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70)

Thanks NotAHacker,

Also can you please help me in uninstalling the current driver that I installed which is 4.60? Is it ok to remove the registry entry from the services "aspi32" and all its subkeys. Then remove all the files installed by v4.60? Give me your suggestions.

PS: your last line comment about MS is going to become true....as they got blowed up by XP BUGGGGGGGGGY release and they now defer all their product releases.....

Awaiting for your valued reply.
Thanks
Rajenk

Have a look here as both options work fine in XP
