why do the modchip have 8 , 7 , 6 , wires what does that mean i don't get it before i get one i need to know get 8 or 7 what's the difference

6 wire I think is for the small PSOnes. The first chip their was, was 4 wire and they came out with protections that detected these chips so they came out with a 7 wire chip that got detected in later games so then they came out with an 8 wire chip that doesn't get detected by any game because it turns it self off when its not needed.
So 7 wire is going do get detected by some newer games while the 8 wire won't( I think).
