1) How easy are they to use? I heard that some games require patching and sometimes the software is a pain. I also hear that saving some games requires some fiddling as well.

2) Should I get a 64/128/256 MB flash linker? The 256 is only $30 more than the 128 though...

They are very easy to use if you go to the right sites you don't need to do any patching. As for the size of cartridge get the biggest you can afford as you can put multiple games on them.

I would also consider buying the "Bridge" as this lets you use the Flashlinker for Gameboy and Gameboy Colour games also.
