We might need to refer to this often, so there it is again, as Hoss posted it at the old board.

For some Burnware w/WinXP you need to install the ASPI layer manually.

Solution:

1) Use ForceASPI's KillAspi.bat (get it from Cyrus Troy's Website (http://www.cyrus.troy.btinternet.co.uk/downloads.htm) ).
If you have a prior install with the same message I recieved.

2)Go here & D/L ASPIXP.zip (http://www.ewandew.com/ASPIXP.zip).

3)Run the aspi.bat file & Hit Enter twice

4)Once that's completed, run the aspi32.exe file, select upgrade, and Reboot

Upon XP's restarting you will see a Message
'x# SCSI host Adapters Detected'
Your all set!

Thanx Hoss.

You can get your aspi here:

http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70

Availiable for all versions of windows. :)

Taken from the instructions ...
For Windows XP, select Start - Run from the menu, and then the Browse button. Locate the INSTALL.BAT file in the directory the files extracted to and select the OPEN button. In the command box, add a space and either XP32 for Pentium I/II/III/IV processors or XP64 for Itanium processors. The command should look like: c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP32 or c:\adaptec\aspi\install.bat XP64. Then select the OK button to run the XP installer.

Are these ASPI files any better than the ASPI files that the new Nero software just installed? (Nero Aspi Library 2.0.1.50 Ahead Software AG)

And one more question: What does the SCSI host Adapters have to do with an IDE CDRW?
