my daughter caught the tray of my Plextor 241040W after it popped out. Now it won't move in or out.
Have now managed to push it in but it now just grinds when you press the eject button.
Is there anything that I can do? Only got it Xmas 2001. Will they cover it under the 2 year warranty?
kids - gotta luv 'em !! not !!

exactly the same thing happened to me with the same drive, if I can remember I fixed it by fiddling about inside it with my finger ,something to do with a plastic cog wheel or a belt needed put into place if my memory serves me correct?? no probs since. worth a try .

Here's a guide to repairing CDROMs (http://www.deinmeister.de/cdrep_e.htm). Be warned that the second you take a screwdriver to your burner you will void your warranty.
You could try contacting Plextor first, their after sales service is excellent, although I don't know how you will go trying to claim 'a child hanging off of the tray' as 'normal wear and tear' :D

sorry my explanation was misleading
the CD tray popped out and was sat there open for ages un-noticed by my daughter. When I asked her to get off the PC her leg swang around and tapped the tray on the side.
Technically she broke it. kids !

just dont say it was the kid. just say you where happily burning away and then it came to ejecting and it just made a strange noise and wont eject, not your fault you didnt touch it. the trick is play dum. if there customer serices is any good they will replace it, just remember the tray was never touched, it must be faulty.
