Hi folks,
I'm struggling with an old parallel port HP 7200e cd-writer on win2k pro with Nero (latest version). Have upgraded the firmware as required and even gone as far as installing the latest ASPI layer but Nero just wont recognise the thing (I am logged in as administrator too)
Has anyone come across this problem or have any idea what it may be?
Cheers all

I had the same problem with HP8230e. Nero wouldn't recognise it no matter what I did.
Tried all the usual things like remove ASPI, force ASPA, used the Nero ASPI from their download page etc etc. Finally gave up as it was wasting too much time.
Do you have any other burn software which works? In my case I get along fine with WINONCD and EZCD5 and CloneCD.

Hoss, I checked with the Nero supported writers list and it says fine and dandy, it also works fine with Nero on a Windows 98 machine, just not this tub of carp the university has given me to work with. I can bring my own writer in or scab another one, its just annoying that i've got this thing sitting here and i cant use it.
Alternative software is a bit of a problem for licences, the uni gets a bit funny about piracy from time to time ...

Have you tried to update the parallel port driver? there is an update driver
for win2k pro on the hp web site. I have one of these I use sometimes
with XP pro, & in order to get it to work, with nero or any software, I
had to download the parallel port driver update. I hope this helps.
good luck.

Thanks but yes, i d/l'ed the new driver, the burner works as a read device, Nero refuses to recognise it as a burner (though it too sees that it is there and can use it as source). Irritating.
