I want to try and put some video files, mostly in avi format, onto a cd-r, but dont want to have to uncompress the files, like from a zipped format, in order to watch them. Does anybody know of a program that can be used to put more than the max of 700 megabytes on one cd-r? Not just barely over, but like 800-900+ megabytes. Thanx all, hope somebody knows of a program that fits the specs. :gabby:

you'd have to overburn (200mb is a BIG overburn - you'd be lucky) get 99min cdrs (a lot of drives don't like 'em) or split 'em over 2 cds.

either that, or you could re-encode (parts of) them.

Zipping an already compressed MPG file, may actually take more space than burning it as a VCD. Burning an MPG as VCD takes about 13 to 15% less space than burning a datafile of the same size, since VCDs like Audio CDs use less error checking data per sector. If it's an AVI you will have to split or resample part of it as mrlipring suggested, but an MPG of nearly 800 MMB will fit without overburning (overburning may get you over 800 MB).
