I have a Yamaha 2100E burner and am using Roxio 5.X to create audio CD's. When I try to play them on my home stereo unit, they take several minutes to start playing. The unit seems to be retrying again and again.

Regular store bought CD's play fine and even my created ones play fine from song to song once they get going.

Any idea's what could be causing this???

Just try different blanks, some stereos are very choosy as to the type of blanks they will play . Also try burning at a lower speed

THis happens a lot with older CD players, my old one did this. Another brand or more importantly another dye color may help...green bottomed vs blue etc.. some have good luck with golds.
But here's a little trick for you...skip ahead to track 2 or 3 and I'll bet it starts playing, then back up to track 1 and away ya go.
