Lazza Mar 28, 2002, 08:26 AM I too burn everything at 24X OTF. The only thing that ever seems to slow that down for me is when I burn compressed N64 roms for some reason. There are a number of variables that will affect whether you can/can't burn OTF at these speeds. Your CD/DVD reader's ability at reading DAE for audio, data extraction rate, how your drive's are connected on your IDE cables, RAM, processor speed, DMA etc, etc. I would reccomend a viewing at www.cdspeed2000.com as a first stop to see how your CD reader compares to others as regards it's ability to handle DAE & data. If you burn a lot of audio you may wish to consider changing your reader for something such as the LiteOn Ltd-163 which is about the best there is for DAE. Also, having both CD-ROM and CDRW on the same IDE channel is often a recipie for disaster for OTF burning. If your set-up is configured this way you may want to consider connecting your CD-ROM drive as slave to your HDD and leave your CDRW as the only device on the secondary IDE channel. HTH :) twomix Mar 28, 2002, 10:24 AM Hey i tried burning a data cd yest from my mitsumi 4x8 to my iomega 12x4x32 w/ burnproof and at the end it said unable to burn after like 30 min it reached 100%, is my older reader to slow to be written to a 12? plz help i never did on the fly b4 bc i usually use clone cd, but i thought that this would be faster. thanks.
