Doesnt really seem that cut and dry interesting topic There are no real hard facts to say that it does/doesnt, I have tried to monitor my ports with ZA externally and never been able to see **** so that is pretty good, it is a bit sad though when we get so paranoid that we need to have firewalls to checkup on our firewalls :)

Well after being a long standing ZAP user until V3 caused all sorts of problems for me I have just changed to Sygate Pro

I think the vote is still out on the spyware issue with ZAP, maybe this is spyware but I'm not certain.
I seem to get very few alerts compared to ZAP and everything runs much smoother without it. I've been testing both Sygate and Kerio firewalls on my other system running Win 98 SE for a while now and find them both superior to ZAP. Times change, ZAP was the king of the crop now there are other sleeker, newer kids on the block that are worth a test drive too.
Even old grumpy Steve Gibson seems to love Sygate as well, so it can't be too bad. :)

Well,

I have never had any issues with Zone Alarm Pro, myself. Now I have heard of some people having issues when they upgraded from 2.6 or whatever to 3.0. The spyware thing . . . ehhh, I am not conviced. The discussion is interesting. Cobra M8, you obviously think it is spyware. :D The jury is still out in my opinion. I see no real convincing evidence that it is, but I would not discount the possibility. . . The link you posted to that thread is interesting, though there can be some dodgy info there as well. If anyone comes any more info on it though, point me to it!!

Oh boy I thought the BBC was lacking in news content but this really takes the biscuit for old news.

This was news a couple of years ago and was proved to be total crap then, even ZA ran a story on this bull.

If this is the current news of the link you gave then I really think you should be looking elsewhere for information.

BTW Zack, ZA3 can be a pain in the Preverbal on some machines and I would advise selecting the option to re-instal. This seems to cure most problems but not all.

well i am on ZA pro 3.0.118 when i forst upgraded from ZA pro2.6 I had loads of problems which resulted in me having to format my H/D I have since found out it is to do with the true vector engine.

To upgrade from a previous version to the latest its better to remove your old version and do a clean install I did it this and now have no problems at all :)

I agree with smurf. Make sure to uninstall your old ZA. I had similar probs until I installed clean.
