OK, here's the problem. I have been looking at Dazzle Hollywood Bridge and also a Terrepin set top unit. I have multiple needs. First, I have about 60 camcorder tapes to transfer to cd. (Sony digital Hi8 DCR-7000 NTSC) Also have almost 1300 VCR tapes to convert to CD close to 4000 movies and TV episodes I have taped. Plus making new CD's from TV broadcast, Digital Cable TV broadcast, and Ripped copies of my DVD's.
Would like to be able to do this in a reasonable length of time. (Yes I do realize it will take a lot of time.. but hopefully over the next couple of years or so)
I have a Thunderbird 1.2 gig with 256 meg ram that I can devote to this, or another Thunderbird 1.3 gig with 256 megs ram. 12X DVD drive on both and 16-10-40 Yamaha burner on the 1.3. Hard drive is in question as I have a new 80 gig 7200 RPM WD drive I am getting ready to install in the 1.3 gig machine, and will then pull the 30 gig out of it, reformat it and install as the primary in the 1.2 gig machine with a 20 gig behind it as slave. Both are 5400 RPM. Both have FIC MB with 266 FSB and 133 RAM.
OS will be Win 2K on the 1.3 gig and Win 98SE on the 1.2 gig.
Currently use Roxio 5.0 Platinum software, but just ordered Nero 5.5 tonight, so that should be in soon.
OK, folks, now I am open to suggestions. What are your thoughts? Suggestions on how to do this and what set up would be most efficient. If different software or hardware, then what? How configured.
No I can't network 50 new computers... :eek: :)
Help!! would like to do this at somewhat reasonable cost and resources. ($cost budget is under $1,000 for harware and software, media and such is extra and not a problem)
