Tekken 4 has the best graphics right now for PS2 fighting games.

It's funny that Soul Calibur, a game that was released ages ago, is still being compared to current titles...that should speak for itself.

I just got a chance to play VF4. I don't know what the hubbub is about. It's really a subpar fighter at best. Very slow and quite simplistic AI. However, most 3D fighters on the PS2 are worthless. *ahem* Tekken Tag *ahem*

Soul Caliber is a very good fighter but lacks the pure gameplay of DOA2: Hardcore (my vote for the finest 3D fighter).

People continue to overlook DOA (probably due to the very lax story mode). IMO, DOA destroys VF4, hands down. Fluid fighting, amazing tag mode, stellar graphics, the smoothest multiplayer mode that I have ever seen.

Hi,

Soul Calibur on the DC is a better game then VF4 on the PS2. I have both and to be honest i was a little disapointed with VF4. But i think the tekken games are excellent. As much fun as i had years ago when Street Fighter 2 came out on the Amiga, now that was a great game back in the days!!

Cheers

I like the Tekken games best also - I've never been a big fan of the Virtua Fighter games. I think the Tekken series had a better balance between new and experienced players whereas the Virtua Fighter games needed a bit more effort to learn how to play them properly.

Soul Calibur is a great game but the one thing it was missing from Soul Blade was the ability to break the other fighter's weapons - unless you can do it and I'm being stupid?

The Dead or Alive series is also very nice although lacking in characters - and the first one wasn't brilliant. the third one on X Box is very nice looking but the camera is a bit hyper at times.

One game that I think was a bit underrated was Kensai: Sacred Fist n PSOne. Nice mix of fighting styles, and it had Steven Seagal in it!
