Ok, so ive had a few problems every once and a while using rempeg2. So i decided to try tmpgenc... So far i like it better (this new version rocks).. Its faster and you can tell it a specific file size you want the outcome file to be. But, when using an mpg file to import into spruceup as a pose to an m2v file. The audio must be multiplexed into the mpg. So, i would have to put the ac3 as the audio file before encoding using tmpgenc. My question is... will this decrease the quality of the audio?

I do not get what you are asking. Why do you have an mpg file and an AC3 file?? Also TMPGEnc will not except AC3 audio. With TMPGEnc you can just rencode the video to another m2v file without processing any audio.

Well, when i encode using tmpgenc the outcome file is a mpg. And spruce up recognizes it as such. And an mpg file is audio/video. So, when imported into spruce, spruce thinks the audio is within the mpg. And its not... And it will not let you indirectly import audio. So, as far i know, i will have to multiplex the audio into the mpg using tmpgenc to get the audio/video to import into spruceup (otherwise it would just be video). Im not sure if there is a way to get tmpgenc to make an m2v file as a post to mpg. Im going to look into that right now. But actually, i think tmpgenc did take the ac3 file as audio. I did a little short experiment to see if it would take it ... and it did. But i havent tested it fully yet, so im not positive if it works... That was a mouthful... Any ideas?

celtic_druid...You can use ac3 in tmpgenc. I do all the time! I use dvd2avi 1.85 to rip the sound ac3. The thing is tmpgenc. will not recognize it without either dvd2avi or power dvd 4.0 installed....cant remember wich 1 will make it work? but i have both and it does work. Will provide more detail if needed.

So you do have to multiplex the ac3 into the m2v with tmpgenc right? mpg=video/audio. Will that effect the audio quality at all?

Set TMPEnc to video only and it will create m2v files.. I am quite sure that TMPGEnc does not have AC3 downsampling incorperated and if it were to use the cyberlink decoder, then how do you access it's properties?? Are you sure that you did not decode the AC3 to wave with DVD2AVI??

heh, no im sure.. I used the ac3 and multiplexed it with the m2v(d2v) within tmpgenc. I didn't make a wav file with dvd2avi. I found 1 problem with this. When i played it in my dvd player and tried to use my yamaha audio reciever (surround sound) it couldnt decode it .. it said "PCM unreadable"... But the sound played ok on my tv volume. I wont do that again.... Anyhow, i was where you can choose (audio+video) or (video) ... etc ... But they were greyed out... and i couldnt get to them. How do i un-grey them?

If i hit file then new... i can go and change it to video only.. But when i go through the wizard and choose dvd ... and set my bitrate and everything it automaticly changes it to audio/video and greys it all out so you cant change it.. any ideas???

Well, i figured out a way to do it.. Tmpgenc has a demultiplexer in its mpeg tools (under file i think) section. You can just use it to get the m2v out of the mpg. Takes about 10 minutes...

For the next movie you do, load up the unlock template and change it to video only.
