rip it mate, wont take a minute. use smartripper and then if the files are smaller than 4.5 gig, burn it straight to dvdr using spruceup, dvdit etc etc
www.dvd2dvdr.com has it explained to a T

I'm new to this but I would hve thought that as it had already been ripped and copied to a DVD-R than all you would have had to do is a Disc 2 Disc copy.

Yeah, you can do a disc 2 disc copy but if it's failing when you try to create an image you'll have to use smartripper, but, NaughtyLondonBoy, You don't need to use spruce etc.
Rip all files using smartripper - no stream processing.
Use Primo or Nero to made a data CD and just drag and drop the ripped files onto a blank dvd (making sure that you create a AUDIO_TS and a VIDEO_TS folder in the root of the DVD and put all ripped files into the VIDEO_TS folder. ;-))

So what goes in the AUDIO_TS folder you created?
