 100% here
I also have a neo 2.2
What I do is when gameshark say Insert Disc

I insert the disk ---->close the cd tray
and tell everyone to shut up and then I listen really close for

-a "loading sound" usuall 4-5 sec after the insert of the disc
--then I press X on the controller really quick
---and this works 100% percent of the time

****Hey Does anyone know that Techno/Trance song featured in
commercial for Mitsubushi Eclipse 2003

The neo 2 was an earlier chip which wasn't as good as the neo2.2 but still the neo2.2 does boot if there is dust on the disc.It doesn't take much to not boot, so make sure that the disc's are dust free.

Can anyone explain why the gs/dvdx has to be put in the ps2 and then switched of for 5 sec before rebooting? Just wondering.

I had neo 2 and had crap success rate, just get a neo 2.2 and the cap aswell since the pin layouts are the same just unsolder one leg at a time and solder it back to the new chip and then yoru success rate for loading games will be much more better. I was a sceptical before it does make a hell of a difference. Also the neo2.2 chip itself and the cap is dead cheap!!!

I guess it the same as a computer. You turn it off and on if it's playing up to clear the problem.

I know I'm right but I could be wrong.

Hi,

The NEO2 mod was very unreliable for booting backups which was why the NEO2.2 was created.

You only have to power off the system when your booting a EA Sports backup. This switches the chip to EA mode.

Cheers

with neo 2 there is a timing issue

i used to always wait for the blue light to stop flashing then i hit x. with neo2.2 you dont need to do this

PS are you switching on your ps2 by pushing the reset button or the eject button. If you push eject button to switch on ps2, it switches off your chip. Try it !

I tell everyone to shut up whenever that Mitsubushi commercial comes on! BTW, its called Start The Comotion by The Wiseguys. And I also boot the same way, with my ear on the ps2!

the 5sec power off is probably just to make sure you get a proper/full hardware reset (make sure everything discharges). so you don't HAVE to wait 5 sec (i never do), but its more of a "just in case", especially if you're having problems.
