delete the .cue and use the converter bin2iso and burn it with nero or any program that can burn iso file.

I use fireburner when I have a .bin file but no .cue file
You could try writing your own cue file, but sometimes you're guessing - psx is usually mode 2, i think pc is mode 1, however, if there are several audio tracks with the data track then the cuesheet might be hard to write.

CDRWin burns .bin's without .cue's just fine, just load the .bin into CDRWin (change when loading the file from .cue to all files or something) and burn away

Sounds like you're doing a test burn with fireburner. Look in the options and see if test is checked. If so then uncheck that and try it again.

how old is your burner - it wears of after two years approx. perhaps it's so totally worn that it doesn't even writes, but that is rather unusual. But keep in mind not every problem is software related

You can use Nero. Just select all files when your ready. Its simple. It works with .bin, .iso, and others. Its how I got VF4, Tekken4, and some other PS2 games to burn. I think the site is www.ahead.com or something like that.
