I like whatever version of windows media player that came with Windows 98 second edition. Speed and sound are good on it, a nice simple program.

I didn't really like media player 7.01 - sometimes picture seems to slow down in it.

I just downloaded powerdvd - haven't really got it working yet - still trying to get sound to work, and trying to get it to do a few other things it says it'll do but so far hasn't. Looks like a pretty powerful program though - has quite a few different options.

I'm going to move this to the Consumer's Opinion forum.

yep, windows media player 6.4 is excellent. The newer versions of Windows Media Player are too processer intensive and heavy on features that slow down and inhibit vcd playback. You can quite happily have both on your system. Check microsoft.com's download site and see if this version is still available.
