spec:
CPU - dual 1GHZ G4s (equivelent to better than dual P4 2.2ghz!)
RAM - 1GB SDRAM ( i don't think g4s and ddr or rimms mix)
GPU - GF4 4700
HDD - twin 160GB 7200 IDE, striped using RAID
CDR - liteon 40X
DVDR - pioneer 2X
Case - COOLERMASTER!
Monitor - 21'' Illyama LCD
usual bits and bobs

OS - Mac OSX and Windows 2k dual boot


thats the PC i'm thinking of buildinmg for my university degree years. Anything to improve on?

Two Ultra160 15K RPM SCSI Fujitsu drives (60 MB/sec sustaiined transfer rate less than 6ms access time. Alternately, 15K RPM IBMs or Seagates (under 4ms access times).

You could try multiple monitors. I find them invaluable

Damn good setup, but 2 1 ghz processors isn't equal to a 2.2 ghz processor, would a corvette with two engines be as fast as a plane? (small) no it wouldn't

No but hes saying 1 x 1Ghz G4 is = 1 2.2Ghz P4 not 2.
