Does anyone have a tutorial for backing up Jedi Knight 2 Outcast. I've tried clonecd and clonyxl. When I did the clonecd it seemed to go okay. There were not any bad sectors reported. When I tried to burn it that seemed to go okay also. When I tried to load the game it just hung. WTF!!!!:furious:

P.S. Clony didn't seem to know what was the protection on the CD. Have I been Beaten' or is it something I'm missisng?

I don't have the game, but according to fairlight and gamecopy world it is not protected.

I have the U.S. version. It is not protected. You shouldn't have a problem like the one you're having. :(

Zellar quick question... What speed is your writer and how much did you lower it to burn Jedi Knight?

i too had probs with burning jk2.
When i had burned it on unbranded 24x media, at 24x the install shield does not load.
But using datasafe media, this also occured (once out of 3 times).
The problem I had was with burning on the fly with clonecd (even though both my drives fully support clonecd, e.g. raw dao etc I found that either slowing down (to 12x) copy or not copying on the fly to correct problem). I can now copy this perfectly everytime.
Just thought I would share my experiences.

my burner is 24x I think. But I burned it at 2x.

"My game backup rule": I don't care what ANYONE ELSE says, SLOWER is better. I haven't found a game I couldnt copy on the first try. I ALWAYS read & write @ 2x. My Toshiba DVD & Lite-On CD-RW CAN do faster, but I refuse. :D

Couldn't agree more Copy Lord.
The hare and the tortoise, etc....

There are those who will tell you it was the fault of the media or the hardware and argue that speed is not a factor.
The truth is they are all factors - speed is just as important as the media and hardware used.

I must admit to reading fast(ish), but I never burn above 4X.

Cheers.

P.S. This doesn't necessarily apply to Zellar's post, but I feel the need to re-iterate this every so often and, co-incidentally, it worked when he slowed down.;)
