Asmith_84 Apr 17, 2002, 07:51 PM Thats for the Jap Gamecube, not the American One...
stoksyXL Apr 18, 2002, 08:27 AM yeah, but u get what i mean.will this be possible when the pal cube comes out???thats wahat i want to know.
dgb1891 Apr 19, 2002, 11:29 PM You might be able to. But who knows. I just modded my US cube to play both JAP and US games (was extremely easy). Since the "region select area" has 3 resistors in it and the middle one is for US, the bottom is for JAP, I would assume that, unless Nintendo changes the placement of them, the top one would be for PAL games. All you would need is a 3 pin, 3 selection switch. Or a regular switch if you only wanted to play games from two regions of your choice. But then comes the problem of the rolling b&w video screen.
Mystical_2K Apr 21, 2002, 07:48 PM the video screen could be fixed by using a PAL>NTSC cable or by a video mode hack similar to the PS2

That third resistor is throwing me off the more I think about it. Its on both the JAP and US consoles, so I"m thinking its just there to balance something out and has nothing to do with PAL. The more I think about it the more I feel like it won't help out at all for playing PAL games.
z0rch May 09, 2002, 02:25 AM Datel are releasing a disc that allows you to play imports on a PAL gamecube :D

Gandi May 10, 2002, 04:02 AM i am now starting 2 think u will not need a chip to play backups. i think it will be like the DC. i can not under stand y nintendo would put a switch on the console which allows u to play inports
psibob84 May 10, 2002, 08:24 PM we will find out as soon as those images start rolling in from some kind cracker
