I just did a big trade with someone who sent me about 90 DC games. I went through and tested them all, booting normally and using the Utopia 1.1 boot disc.

In all, 21 games DO NOT WORK. That's 23%!!!. Now before I go telling this guy what a shitty *** job he did and asking for replacements on the discs, I want to make sure that there isn't something else I should be trying.

I've tried booting normal. I've tried Utopia, open, insert disc. Most the games that don't work make awful clicking noises and stuff when trying to load.

Can anyone coment? Did this guy really send me 21 coasters?

I noticed from your profile that you are from the US, it could be the games that don't work are PAL games? (not that that would explain the clicking noises, I am puzzled about that). Could you name some of the games, to see if that possibly sheds some light on this issue?

Oh, also: sometimes games will not work if you have an unofficial controller or vmu inserted. So to be sure if they really not work, try it with just one official controller and official vmu plugged in.

Gamegirl is right .... even though I am on an NTSC DC I know this to be true.... as I believe I helped GameGirl once with Soldier of Fortune as this happens for this games...... try it and see what happens

Just make copies of the games that do weird noise in your dc, then they will work.
I dunno why, but it really works.
(must be the way your homie burnt the cds)

Did this guy really send me 21 coasters? those 21 my friend are coasters caused by buffer underruns. the person may have not know it, but my guess is that he did and didn't want to redo the games. i did nfl2k2 for a freind, and the burn process stopped at 99% i closed dj and tried the game and it did the exact same thing. reburning will only give a duplicate coaster.

it's happened to me before man. I ordered 10 games from a local supplier and 2 of them turned out as coasters. They were just faulty, and the dreamcast would be making that clicking noise and not load the game for ages!! i ended up throwing them out and ordered them again from him. The second copies worked fine.

I think you've been given coasters
