psone vcd player info

has anyone used the psone external vcd before.if so can u tell me the quality of playback?

i have also heard that using this product can damage your lazer.is their any truth in this :confused:

i am about half way through installing one,so would like to hear any comments you guys have before a finish it off.

it doesn't actually dmage the laser but by playing vcd's it does wear it out much faster. We all know how crappy the lasers are anyway so it's not worth it.

Is there a way to play vcds on the psx without an addon?, ie a boot disc for a modded psx?

Don't think there is any kind of boot disc. There is one for the Dreamcast though but I think the PS requires hardware...
