If like I was you are only able to rip a DVD to HDD at 2 speed then check if your motherboard supports ATA66 or ATA100 and buy yourself an 80 conductor IDE cable and in instant ripping at 6x and up. Full encrypted DVD to the HDD in just over 5 mins!!!

I use the dvr 104 for ripping. I find ripping in win2k & win2k server only allowed me to rip at a snail rate of 1.3x. 40mins :(
I then I rip in winXP and find it rip constant between 2.6x - 3.5x. It takes about 11mins to the HD.
My mobo supports ATA100. So, dont the 80 IDE cable come with the mobo?

I got only one 80 cable and one 40 cable which I had put on the secondary IDE channel which was where my DVD was connected but even if the HDD you are ripping to is connected to the 40 cable it will slow it down. I use win2k my HDD is on the primary channel and the DVD is on the secondary channel and like I said before 6x and up and 8x for unencrypted DVDs. I don't use my a03 though as its a bit slower.
If your unsure count the wires;)
