Has anyone tried putting vcd's onto dvdr?

I have put 3 vcd's onto 1 dvdr. I only had to convert the audio to 48KHz, everything else is dvd standard.

It works on my DVD player but not properly in my PS2.

The films work on the PS2 but look really really bad, like theres a white sheet over the film, it looks really bright and blocky.

Like I said, it works fine in my dvd player.

Any ideas anyone?

mate, PS2 will never play dvdrs with MPEG2 video thats converted from mpeg1 (vcd). well not in my case anyways

always skipping and freezes. never had a decent one yet. but, all dvds that have been ripped and burnt, play fine.

Never worked it out, i have a version 3 ps2.

anyone else?

Hey, i just converted an AVI file to mpeg 2 no video then the sound to an ac3 file and burnt onto a DVD-RW. Plays fine on my PC but not on my PS2 which is a V3 also. If we think it is becuse of the mpeg 2 format is it possible to convert this to a DVD friendly mpeg2 format??

had the same problem followed doom9s guide, i get the same thing on my pioneer dvd player!! dunno about ps2 as it dont read dvd-rw and i dont wanna waste dvdr discs. hopefully someone knows how to sort this as mpeg1 with 48khz is dvd standard so should work fine !!. did u use spruce up to author ?

heres what i think the problem is, not sure though but if u wanna try its worth a shot, ok. when authoring in spruce up dont use menus, just add the media then drag it into the window at the bottom ive just done this and the mpeg now plays perfect on my dvd player, gonna try a whole movie later, i hope it works, then time to try svcds as well :)

The only way to ensure that your conversions will work on every DVDR compatible player, including PS2, is to convert to DVD, not just import a VCD into Spruce.
I did AliG (SVCD), and converted to true DVD using TMPGENC. It works perfectly on PS2 etc.
The downside is size... AliG went from a little more than 1GB to 2.2GB so I could not really fit another film of similar length on.

I Patched a couple of SVCD's and they worked 100% on PS2. Didn't touch the video at all, but did re-encode audio with Besweet. The only downside was that because the vieo was patched (i'm only asuming this) I could not use the slider to add chapter points. Still big deal eh?

Hmm, well I will try to load straight into Spruce without menus and see if this works. I did encode the AVI file into a DVD compatible MPEG using tmpgenc but will try again.

By the way britneyfan666, PS2 v5 & v6 read DVD-RW directly no problem, my V3 will work if i knife swap from an original movie.

ok done it, managed to get a full vcd onto dvd-rw and works fine, just follow the guide on doom9.net but dont make a menu(dunno if makes a difference) but mine now works fine on standalone pioneer dvd player and ps2. vcd seems to play fine.
