hi, why is this written above the mem card ports on my PS2? What does it mean?

magic gate was sposed to be some copy protection so you couldn't save data from backup games *:laugh: at sony

Sony's Ps2 uses a special compression on the memory card to save game files.

Sony patented this idea calling it Magic Gate technology.
If anyone want's to use it they have to pay a lot of money to Sony 'cus it's their idea.

its also used to protect peoples data online if the modem/network adapter was to ever come out

I heard it had something to do with sound files or something similar. That is why Sony has two types of memory cards for data saving at least, like in digital cameras and mp3 players.
