Hey, I want to buy some DVD-R's to play on my PS2, but I use the knife trick and I don't know if you can.

Can I boot DVD-R's with the knife trick and a DMC demo disc?

And how?

yes. the only thing u cant play is cdr games over 73 mins

you need ar2/gs2, i use a backup of ar2 1.7 with an ar2 dongle and boot it with region x, the method i use is

1 boot dvd region x (if it's dongle version put it in slot 2)
2 knife swap for ar2 1.7 backup (swap dongles if region x has a dongle)
3 when ar2 loads press eject and swap for original ps2 dvd, i use dmc demo
4 wait for 10 seconds
5 select start game, with/without codes
6 knife swap for dvdr
7 press x

there are other methods depending on which versions of ar2/gs2 you have, either post back or email me if you need any more help

Using GameShark2 v2.01 with the Dongle to boot backups.

CD-R's
1. Place your GS2 v2.01 disc into the PS2 & press reset.
2. Select START GAME
3. Select WITHOUT CODES
4. Use knife swap to swap the GS2 disc with your PS2 backup
5. Press X after you have pulled the pin back over using the knife trick
6. The game will now load

DVD-R's

1. Place your GS2 v2 disc into the PS2, then hold the reset button until it turns red.
2. Highlight the GameShark Codes, but do not press X yet.
3. Press eject & swap the GameShark disc for the original DMC disc (or other large TOC original DVD).
4. Press eject once more to close the drawer, then wait 10 seconds.
5. Press X, then highlight ARMORED CORE 2 & press X once more.
6. Then press Start on your controller.
7. The screen should now say With Code/Without Code. Highlight With Code and press X.
8. Get your swap tool and DVD-R ready and press X again.
9. As soon as you press X the disc should stop spinning (listen). This is when you do the knife swap with the DVD-R.
10. Press O to go back to main menu.
11. Press X on Start Game
12. Press X on Without Codes
13. Press X again
14. Screen should go black and begin to boot up the DVD-R

2. At the "HARDWARE NOT DETECTED" Screen press start
3. Select WITHOUT CODES
4. Use knife swap to swap the GS2 disc with your PS2 backup

9. Press eject once more to close the drawer, then wait 10 seconds
