Looking to buy a new DVD player that is able to play SVCD, VCD, mp3, cdr, cdrw, and cd. Is there any model here in the U.S. that I can buy for an affordable price. I bought a Phillps DVD711 model and it claims to play vcds, but doesn't play all vcds. I want one that will play everything w/ no problems. I just want to know which model to get this time. Thanks.

You could try a pioneer DV-444, this is a superb player and can play everything you ask for including DVDR (and unfinalised ones)

I got mine for £200

Any Pioneer player will do the business.

Cheers.

Sorry mate, not true got a Pioneer 535 from Richer sounds. It wont play SVCD or MP3 and cost £180, its good for DVDrs though. After doind a lot of research on Budget DVDplayers that play everything without problems & has Macro removal I bought a Dansai 852 from Tescos for £99 and it hasnt rejected a disc yet after doing a lot of testing.

The DANSAI is the one m8, trust me. Had 7 players in last 8 months and this one wipes the floor with them all. Only one that came close was the Pioneer 444

Sony & Pioneer may be better bult than a Dansai but the majority of their players are not muliregion as standard or play SVCD & MP3 and definately dont have Macro removal as standard

Yep - Tesco seems to be the only place to buy one. I ended up so desperate for one that I phoned 12 stores around the Cheshire and Greater Manchester area to find one store that had them in stock.

If you're close to Manchester, the Prestwich store had them in plentiful supply today. Both the Dansai 852 and 1010.

Shame this doesn't help aledesma4 who started this thread, since he's based in the USA :(

Taximania - Check out this post m8: http://www.cdrom-guide.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=446117#post446117

The Pacific 750 is suffering from a few problems - personally, I would recommend the Dansai 852 from Tesco.

I don't think Sony will be suitable for you as I know of two friend who have different sony dvd players. Neither play svcd's and also they don't work with certain disks

AS I said b4, the DANSAI is the one m8. Never rejected a disc yet, plays em all, svcd, mp3, and ALL makes of cdr.

Tesco are the sole UK suppliers of this particular brand so this is where u will find them. But if u check newsgroups u will find numerous requests from ppl asking where abouts in UK is there Tesco's with stock? I read a post where a guy travelled all the way from Slough to Bridge Of Don (nr Aberdeen) just to pick one of these baby's up.

I have noticed a lot of posts sayibng the smaller Tesco Extra stores are more frequent in having stock. However, dont have one local and my local Tesco ALWAYS sells out within a day or 2 of whenever they get them in.
