I am having trouble burning The Sims Vacation, I am using Clone cd beta 4, which is a trail from the net for 21 days, I have a Yamaha burner with bufferunderrun protection, its a 20/10/40, first I copied it to my hardrive using clone cd, then burned it to cd, at max. speed, when I put it in my cd rom, which is also my burner, my mouse froze up, and got a error message about startup exe. it did this numerous times so I gave up (a coaster), so then slowed down the writing speed when burning it to cd 2x. This seemed to work, it did not feeeze up, so I installed it, that seemed to work, after install and pushed to play a error came up that kept stating to eject the cd and start again so I did that but it keeps saying that every time I push the play button, (another coaster)

Sims vacation is protected with SD v2.51.xx, which means that for one it has an ATIP check, so to play it in a CDRW drive you need to have something like Clone CD's Hider CDR function enabled.

Also it means that most burners will have trouble copying it, it maybe that your burner is simply not capable of creating a working 1:1 copy..

A typo.. I meant hide CDR media. It stops a CDRW drive from recognising that you are using a CDR and not the original.

perhaps if you're in the USA, clonecd won't let u use Hide CDR Media, since it's an illegal thing or so in the US. Download CloneCD Region Killer, and this makes your version of CloneCD capable of writing with AWS enabled (which you should use when copying that game) and lets you use the Hide CDR Media setting.

(you 'll find it under downloads->various: Clone AWS Unlocker)

PS: I'd say: write the image again with AWS enabled, and try again playing the game, but first turn on the Hide CDR Media setting (i thought somewhere on the bottom right corner in CloneCD?)

Thanx's again, I installed the patch, but where are these settings that you are talking about, like AWS enabled and hide CDR media setttings??

You shoud see the AmplifyWeakSectors (AWS) option when you're ready to burn an Image.

To activate Hide CR-R feature, simply right-click on the CloneCD icon in your system tray in Windows.

If you are used Clone CD 4, then AWS is enabled by default if you had it on game or data disc for writting.

Thank you guys very much, I found the settings and it worked great, but one more question, I don't know if I should ask this in this forum or any of the cd forums, but when I quit and exit out of any of the sims games backup's or original, I have to reboot my computer because the monitor goes black with just the cursor of the mouse on the screen , it just seems to happen with any of the sims game.
