I have a cd with a couple of startrek:enterprise episodes(.mov) on it, a friend of mine burned them for me. My problem is that he ( I don't know why) burned these episodes as one audio track. Now the cd contains 632 mb of data that I can't read (the actual .mov files) and a 44 kb audio track that makes my mp3 player start when I try to read it.
Is there a way to convert the track or do something so I can play these files.

Did he actually burn it as an audio track?? If so then what you need to do is using a win9x based OS use the alternative CDFS.VXD and open up the stereo 44.1KHz wav file on the CD with winrar and extract the files from it.

Alterativly you could rip the track to a wave file with something like EAC and if your drives DAE is good enough, then you should be able to extract the files..

This is all assuming that he rared the mov's, added audio to the start and finish and burnt as an audio track.. However I don't know why he would do that for only 632mbs, so I would say that it is more likely that it is actually a data track and your drive/OS is miss reading it.

I tried to ripp the cd but it didn't work. When I tried to use winrar it said "the parameter is incorrect". From that I gather he burned the .mov files as a audio cd thus making it unreadable as a data track. I have no idea what to do next.

I still don't get why he would burn only 632mbs as an audio track... You should tell him to check out MCF CD maker, it will let you burn any data as VCD DAT tracks..

This problem is caused when te CD is burned.

This is from Nero's helptool (http://www.nero.com/en/helptool/index.htm) in the Recognition problems section.


A data CD appears in Explorer as an audio CD
Burned data CDs are always recognized as Audio CDs, i.e. for every written session, in Explorer they see one line respectively with TRACK<n>.CDA.


If you are using a Philips CDD3610 / HP 7200 / HP 7100 or a compatible device, then please change to Nero 4.0.3.4 or newer.

This problem occurs e.g. in the case of some PacketCD versions. Please deinstall PacketCD and make sure that all PacketCD drivers have been removed. Refer also to drivers of other CD burner programs
The file SCSI1HLP.VXD (Windows\System\IOSUBSYS directory) causes these phenomena in connection with other drivers. Please delete this file.
If the option DMA is activated during the burning process, then it is possible that the burned CDs are seen as being audio CDs (e.g.: in the case of Yamaha CD burners).
Please deactivate the option DMA to be deactivated (see: DMA Option)

If you are using an Adaptec SCSI hostadapter : We are aware of some cases in which it was possible to resolve the problem by updating to the newest drivers of the SCSI Hostadapter das Problem beseitigt werden konnte.
