supernova Jan 20, 2002, 09:19 AM Tdk 12 speed working fine yesterday in different system failing on nero and clone with same thing POWER CALIBRATION FAILURE any advice running 98se supernova@zipmail.com yinyan Jan 20, 2002, 10:43 AM this error is usually down 2 the media - try a different make. Trondos Jan 20, 2002, 05:41 PM You have written on the CD several times and deleted it. Please use new CD-Rs (Not likely, uh?) :) It is possible that the APM (Energy saving mode) causes this error. Please deactivate the energy saving mode. The CD Writer has problems writing on the CD-R/RW. Please resort to another brand mark of CD-R/RW. Please ask the vendor of your CD burner for recommended brands of CD-R/RW. You will also find information in problematic CD-R/RW. The power supply of your computer is not providing enough power. You are using an external device. Please check the power supply and for test purposes install the burner in the computer. Numerous graphics cards require a lot of power. The same goes for numerous CPUs and some harddisks. the mains cable or the plug is defective. Please use another plug cable for test purposes. The computer vibrates to such an extent that the laser can not stay in the track. In particular if a CD-ROM drive is being used as the read drive. The device has become hot Only operate in cool conditions. The lens of the write laser is dirty. the CD-R itself is not clean or is of bad quality. In particular if writing with 8x, conditions like this become noticeable. If 80 minute CD-Rs are being used, then the cause can be that the track distance is too small, on the limit of the specification. It is possible that you are using a CD Writer , which has problems writing on these. Older driver versions of the file CDR4VSD.VXD (driver from Easy CD) also cause the above mentioned error message The error message can also occur if the CD Writer has not been set up correctly. Please set the system settings as described in recommended settings . One case is known in which the error message appeared after exchanging the mother board. After newly setting up the motherboard (including formatting), the problem was solved. Or there is a hardware problem. But as yinyan says, just try another make of media. :D That is by far the most common reason for this. pappasmurf Aug 16, 2008, 01:14 AM Had and fixed this problem a few times now with different drives. :madhack: WRONG: Its NOT the media:bang:, i've used good and crap media that worked fine for 100's of burns, then one day "POWER CALIBRATION FAILURE" during a read/write. :nono:  WHY: It's a dirty drive/laser. Otherwise your laser is going-dead. FIX: Clean your DVD/CDrom drive. Blow air in the drive or open it up and clean the laser head with a Qtip+Reb alcohol.:tup::tup: :luxhello:  :morning: |
