Thinking of buying a cheap dvd player, either a PACIFIC 750 or a DANSAI 852

Anyone help which one to buy

Moving this to consumer's opinion.

i would go for a danasi 852,or 1010 over the PACIFIC 750

as the pacific has problems when try to play dvd films keeps stopping/starting every 5 minutes,and this was happening on all my films

tool mine back to asda,and got the danasi 1010,and it plays everthing fine

The mp3 interface on the dansai 1010 uses 'smart nav' which is basically like looking at yer hard drive - the pacific's mp3 interface is horrible.

Dansai 1010 all the way!!!! and at 85 bucks from tesco plays everthing!

whats the difference between the dansai 852 and the 1010 ? do they both play svcd/vcd/mp3/cdr/cdrw ??? with no probs ? and can you fast forward vcd and svcd in them ??

ShIfTeR101 - I think they're virtually the same mate, but I bought the Dansai 852 today because it looks a much nicer model than the 1010. You'll understand what I mean when you see them. Ok - so the 852 is nearly £15 more expensive, but I thought it was worth it to look better in my video cabinet! ;)

Yes, you can fastforward and rewind and they both play all the formats.

DON'T BE TEMPTED TO BUY THE DECCA DVD PLAYER FROM POWERHOUSE thinking it is exactly the same as the Dansai. It mostly is, but the Decca is both more expensive and also has a sound fault on it (see my post on the DVD board).

I can't comment on the Pacific 750 except to say what problems I hear others are having. Apparently, the ones currently in stock in Asda have a newer board inside which prevents the Pacific 750 from having both Macrovision removed and multi-region capabilities at the same time.

Dansai 852 all the way mate. Loads in stock at Tesco Prestwich (north Manchester).

Thanks mate i think i might have to get one of the 852's when i get paid on friday!:) i dont suppose tesco offer a three year quarantee like asda do they ??

I'm not sure Matt. I wasn't told anything about the guarantee, so I presume that it's just a one year guarantee as standard :)

Asda have offered a good deal on the 750, but the problems people have reported with it have put me off.
