Thanks to the help I've been given here I have managed to start copying to cd again but transfer is v-e-r-y slow! Two tracks are taking about two hours to get from "converting" to "complete" on WinMP. It's doing my head in... where have I gone wrong? I must have inadvertently altered something i think! All suggestions gratefully received. Cheers, J.

You need to give us more information as Hoss stated. What program are you using and what are you trying to convert? The more you can tell us, the easier it will be for us to help you.

Sorry, I must have recieved help from elsewhere but was just told to defrag and restore to an earlier date which I did. As a complete Newbie I can only say that I am using Windows MP6 and trying to make up a compilation of stuff that I previously copied to library from my own CD's.
The "converting" time is at least an hour for two 3 minute tracks! Also I cannot even copy a CD to my library any more even though I used to do it regularly so I know all procedures for burning etc but it just won't work now. Don't know where to tuen 'cos i don't know all the technical jargon. do I need to contact Microsoft or anyone else? Everything was fine up to a fortnight ago! Julie M.

Still don't know what your trying to convert. But converting 3min of audio track to MP3 or MP3 to WAV takes 1 hr is way too much.
Try CDex http://www.cdex.n3.net/ . This freeware will let you rip audio tracks to WAVs or MP3s and will let you encode/decode MP3s. You'll probably find it's better to convert MP3s to WAVs first before burning.
Burning with WMP6? Hmmm... Try Nero at www.nero.com .
BTW, download ASPI v.4.70 and update it may help. http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/drivers_by_product.html?cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70 .
