Has anyone ever had "Bad" Media? Like it all burns well but on playback, there are glitches in the media as in VCDs? If so, what brands and how common is it to get a bad batch? Thanks

Unforunately there is a lot of bad media out there. I bought a "bargain" spindle of 50 disks at Wal-Mart a couple of months ago and had the same problems you described. Burned OK, didn't play.
My experience was with PSX backups, but any files put on bad/cheap media is in danger of errors. Trying to burn at high speeds and multi-tasking cause loss of data.
I burn most of my backups at 2X (NEVER faster than 8X) on Fujifilm disks ($20/spindle of 50 at Kmart) and haven't had any problems with them.
Avoid no-name, store-brand and generic silvers and you will get better quality copies.
I figure its better to take the time to burn good disks than risk my reputation as a quality trader and get tied up with constantly replacing disks for people. Its just bad business.
Here is a link with some data about cd-r brand quality.

Hope I helped somewhat. Good luck, RipperSlayer

Thanks for your reply. Much better hearing from someone that knows their **** than an idiot just wanting to reply and say umm duh I don't know ect... Appreciate it. Anyone else having any bad CD media recently?

The content of this link looks to be far outdated and missing new brands, limiting therefore its usefulleness.

For bolspsx I was wondering if you have tried kypermedia DVD-R as dvd writers tend to be pretty sensitive about what media you use. I am currently using fujifilm dvd-r which work great but I would like to be able to use the kypermedia if possible since they are cheaper. By the way I use a Cendyne105 burner (Pioneer105). Thanks

Bad Media list- (mostly any cd made by retailer store)
Officemax
Precision
Office Depot
Comp USA
AT&T
and a lot more I can't think of right now.
They scatch easily.
