Hey, I'm having some troubles with gyplay for dc. I did the burning and everything correctly before, but this time, when I put a certain movie on the disk, it plays fine and everything, until I try to play the movie file(s). When it says "loading", it has an error message that says "error: unable to play file. Not in mpeg format or has bad (something along the lines of playback)". The movie files are in .avi format. What do I do? Could someone please help me? Could there be something to do to fix this problem?

are the .avi divx? if so the DC can not play them. if you want to convert them go to www.vcdhelp.com for guides.

How do I fnd out if they're .avi divx? I tried to use a program to convert the files to .mpeg's, but some error message popped up, saying that they're not the valid format or something....is there a way to get it to play on the dreamcast?

Could anyone help me with this? I want to know a program that converts an avi divx (or whatever it's called) file to an .mpeg/mpg file?

I have recently tried the whole complicated process and I finally got Gyplay to work. But when I did, the damn thing ALWAYS said that the MPEG files were bad.

Naturally, I got the TMPGEnc encoder and I set all of the settings recommended in the FAQS.

Now my problem is that the ecoder always stops at exactly 50%
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG???:furious:

Well, I've run into a few complications like you're describing. But for the most part .avi and .mpg files I've used on GypPlay have worked(using Nero). I tried using TMPGEnc on the files I've had that wouldn't work but I didn't have any luck. I also tried using flaskMPEG which worked o.k. on one of the files I had(not divx). Are you sure the presumed .avi(divx) isn't just corrupted?

So, what you are saying Jodo--is that I may not even have to use a converter to play the mpeg files on Gyplay?

If this isn't what you meant, could you tell me which version of Flask you used, and from where, please?

http://go.to/flaskmpeg is where you can find out about flask. Like I said I was only successful with converting 1 file with it so far. But if you've got .mpg/ .mpeg/ .dat/ .avi/ .m1v files they shoud work fine on GypPlay without any kind of conversion. But .mov files WILL NOT work. Always check to make sure your files play on your PC first. I've found quite a few bogus files. From what I've read (dcemulation) someone is working on a divx player for DC. How soon it'll be up and running I don't know. Definitely use Nero, with your ISO tab set to ISO 9660/Level2/Mode 1/Joliet enabled. This way you can continue to put files on the same disc. You can also get a free divx player for your PC at cnet or zdnet I think its called Globaldivx or something like that.
