I have at the moment 2 DVD players. A toshiba sd2109 which has excellent playback and sound, but doesn't play vcds so I bought a haus-2001 which plays vcds brilliantly much better than a lot I have seen however the DVD playback does not match the toshiba so I kept both. Now I need a player that plays DVDrs as well as the toshiba plays DVDs as the tosh doesn't play them at all.
So I need a quality player that will play VCDs smoothly and DVDs clearly. Not too bothered about mp3 or svcd as I would transfer svcd to DVD. All opinions welcome.:gabby:

Apologies for my ignorance on this subject but what does 'macrofree' mean?
Is this the only difference between the two models ?
Does either have to be chipped or anything to play vcds,svcds,dvdr,mp3's ?

macrofree mines you can hook the dvd player to a video and copy to tape
and that is the only difference between the 2 players
their is no need to have the players chipped it will play everthing out of the box vcds,svcds,dvdr,mp3's
their is a hack to turn the players to multiregion, with the players remote control
hack is below for the 2 players

Thanks for the help Tafsir.
I've been to the nearest Tesco and they haven't got either model in anyway, only DVD they have got is one which comes with some films included.I can't remember what make it was, definately wasn't Dansai.
