I sent my ps2 back to the installer( who I will not name yet as I am waiting for his reply) as it would not work using the swap trick (its a neo4). The tray would only go halfway in when I replaced the original with the dvdr after letting go of the eject button.

He said he fixed it but now the tray will not open to allow me to replace the orginal with the dvdr?

The process I am following is...
Boot up ps2 with no disc in the drive
Enter the browser menu
Press eject and insert an original ps2 dvd game
Press eject to close the tray and HOLD the eject button in
A dvd icon will now appear on the browser and turn bright gold
When it turns gold let go of the eject button to open the tray
***at this point the tray will not open again****

Any ideas?

Got it sorted.
I now follow this method for booting dvdr....

press and hold reset
press x on browser keep finger on reset
wait for no data
press eject keep finger on reset
put in original
wait for gold disc
release finger from reset
change disc
press x on gold disc

Its a new one on me. Apparently its a neo4 neo2 mix?
Works really well.
