I just installed a neokey in my system. When I start the ps2 and the neokey the light starts flashing on and off. Is that supposed to happen? I put in a psx back-up but it gets as far as the psx logo. I put in a different back-up it loads it. The back-up was something I found on napster long ago. It was tazan's boot disc or something like that. It loaded that. So do i start up the system with the neokey on then put in the ps2 back-up? Did I do it right?

No, with a neokey & a ps2 backup, you put in the GS first.

With a PSX game you just keep the key on & put it in, no GS disk.

You should be able to boot PSX backups without even having the "key" in at all :D As long as you have the link wire soldered in of course
