I recently bought a new freecom 32x10x40 cd writer. It works ok with supplied software & clone cd. I bought a backup copy of ecdc 5 platinum which doesn't recognise my writer so I went to the roxio site & downloaded the 5.1 upgrade. When I try to instal the upgrade I get an error saying "this program has performed an illegal operation". Can anyone give me an explanation for this & is there anything I can do to overcome it. Since I am a relative beginner I would appreciate all help.

Andy.

Try to uninstall EZCD and reinstall it.

Info on uninstall/reinstall can be found here http://ask.roxio.com/cgi-bin/roxio_tic.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=tqh_qHdg&p_lva=&p_refno=010426-000000&p_created=988300049&p_sp=cF9ncmlkc29ydD0mcF9yb3dfY250PTQ0JnBfc2VhcmNoX 3RleHQ9dW5pbnN0YWxsJnBfc2VhcmNoX3R5cGU9MyZwX3Byb2R fbHZsMT03JnBfcHJvZF9sdmwyPX5hbnl_JnBfY2F0X2x2bDE9f mFueX4mcF9zb3J0X2J5PWRmbHQmcF9wYWdlPTE*&p_li= .

BTW, a list of CDRWs supported by EZCD can be found here http://www.roxio.com/en/jhtml/cdrdatabase/static/supportedrecorder3.html?_requestid=1490857 .

If your burner is not supported, try other burnware. Maybe Nero www.nero.com .

What OS are you running?

Load Windows in safemode and run EasyCD to see if you can run it OK. You can't burn in safemode but if EZCD is OK, it will run. In this case, you are having conflicts with hardware drivers and the fault is not in EZCD itself.

BTW, try cleaning up your Windows temp folder and the browser's temp folder.
